Modeling of Railway Stations Based on Queuing Networks

چکیده

Among the micro-logistic transport systems, railway stations should be highlighted, such as one of most important infrastructure elements. The efficiency industry a whole depends on quality their operation. Such systems have complex multi-level structure, and incoming traffic flow often has stochastic character. It is known that effective approach to study operation mathematical modeling. Earlier, we proposed an hub modeling using multiphase queuing with batch Markovian arrival process (BMAP) flow. In this paper, develop method by applying more models based networks allow us describe in detail route requests within object non-linear hierarchical structure. This allows increase adequacy explore new class objects—freight marshalling yards. Here present two stations, which freight station located Russia, other yard USA. form BMAP They are implemented simulation software, numerical experiment carried out. Based results, some “bottlenecks” structure studied determined. Moreover, risk switching irregular mode assessed. suitable for describing wide range cargo passenger including river ports, seaports, airports, multimodal hubs. primary analysis does not need large statistical information parametric identification.

A Parametric Decomposition Based Approach for Multi-class Closed Queuing Networks with Synchronization Stations

Multi-class closed queuing networks with synchronization stations find applications in analytical models of assembly systems and production systems operating under pull control policies. These queuing networks are hard to analyze exactly and therefore approximation methods must be used for performance evaluation. In this research we propose a new efficient approach based on parametric decomposi...

Modeling and control of railway networks

In this paper we consider the modeling and control of railway networks. The main aim of the control is to recover from delays in an optimal way by breaking connections and changing the departure of trains (at a cost). To model the controlled railway system we will use a switching max-pluslinear system description. We define the optimal control design problem for the railway network, and we show...

Capacity utilisation and performance at railway stations

As traffic levels increase on railways in Britain and elsewhere, improved understanding of the trade-offs between capacity provision/utilisation and service quality is increasingly important, as Infrastructure Managers and Railway Undertakings seek to maximise capacity provision without an unacceptable loss of service reliability and punctuality. This is particularly true of the stations and ju...

Improving Customer Proximity to Railway Stations

We consider problems of (new) station placement along (existing) railway tracks, so as to increase the number of users. We prove that, in spite of the NP-hardness for the general version, some interesting cases can be solved exactly by a suitable dynamic programming approach. For variants in which we also take into account existing connections between cities and railway tracks (streets, buses, ...
